27 Years of Stockland Weather

John Curnoe's 27 Year Rainfall Record for the Village of Stockland, Devon.

Are you fascinated by the weather or just mildly curious? You can only admire this faithfully recorded and painstakingly charted record of our local weather. Take a really careful look.

Whilst the years 2005 to 2009 reflect the changeability within reasonable limits that we all grew to expect, you will soon notice the drier winters of 2011 and 2012 which pulled the total rainfall in those years below anything in the preceding 23. Then 2012 was a wet year with a wet winter and the summer of 2013 was dry and followed by the wettest winter on record. Is our weather changing? Yes, it already has, but it remains to be seen whether we revert to the patterns more common 10 years ago and soon see these recent years as simply unusual, or if we experience more and more unexpected extremes.
