The Blackdown Food and Craft Fayre
"The Best of the Blackdowns"

For a third successive year, we are again celebrating the national award winning success of various local Blackdown producers of fine foods and beverages. Giving both local people and visitors to the area an opportunity to meet local suppliers and for them to sample the best of what the Blackdowns has to offer, the event takes place in Churchinford on August Bank Holiday Sunday, 27th August, 2017.

The event is free and offers a number of attractions for families and individuals alike, with children's activities to help keep them occupied whilst Mums and Dads peruse the stalls or sample the beverages at the Bar. Together with a raffle, there will be live music.

Russ and Becky Bachelor will be selling their double award winning Forest Longhorn Beef and providing the BBQ, so there will be ample opportunity to try before you buy.

Some of the other producers who will be attending include Robinsons Smokehouse (smoked meats, cheeses and snacks); Every Cakes; Maggie North (local Blackdown honey); The Chillees; Trull Corner Deli (a variety of mouth-watering savouries); Tess Stone (delicious vegan food); Bumbles Preserves (tasty jams and chutneys); and Blackdown Lavender (fragrant oils, soaps and gifts).

The Bar will be stocked with local Tricky and Taunton Cider and Otter Brewery Beers, along with natural fruit juices from The Bloomsbury Juice Co.

And this year, due to popular demand, a number of local craftsmen and women will also be sharing their particular skills, including weaving by Sarah Downer, local pottery, jewelry and cushions by CraftyJay, and willow work by Marilyn Squance.

The Food and Craft Fayre takes place at Churchinford Village Hall (opposite the shop) and gates open at 12 noon. Cream teas will be served from 2.00pm until the close at 4.00pm. This year, there will be provision made for parking in a nearby field to prevent any congestion on the main street.

Please come along to sample the best of the Blackdowns while helping us raise funds for our invaluable Village Shop and Churchinford Pre-School.
